Decarbonising the Designated Landscapes of Wales; working with our communities to achieve net zero.
Emyr Williams, outgoing Chair of Tirweddau Cymru welcomed delegates from across Wales as they gathered together to explore the role of Designated Landscapes (DLs) in the climate emergency.
The Tirweddau Cymru Landscapes Wales Seminar, held on 16 and 17 May in Bangor Management Centre provided an opportunity to take a closer look into Decarbonising the Designated Landscapes of Wales, following the work by Small World Consulting carried out for each of the eight DLs of Wales.

Reflecting on the two day event, Andrew Blake, Wye Valley National Landscape Manager and Chair Elect of TCLW said: “ Following on from the Cabinet Secretary’s presentation, we will work with Welsh Government on securing equitable funding settlements for National Parks and National Landscapes, including core funding for National Landscapes and the continuation of the Sustainable Landscape Sustainable Places fund. We will work to ensure continued support for TCLW partnership and staff, who are contributing to work on equality diversity and inclusion, ensuring a Just Transition, Biodiversity Deep Dive and decarbonisation.
Andrew continued: “I’m delighted to be taking up the role of TCLW Chair and to welcome Catherine Mealing Jones, CEO of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority as Vice Chair. As a Partnership, TCLW will ensure liaison, cohesion and support of both Cabinet Secretaries; Julie James MS, on National Parks and Huw Irranca-Davies MS, on National Landscapes. We will explore green Finance opportunities, especially through National Parks Partnership and National Landscape Association – Nature Based Solutions team.
“ We have started to and will maintain links and knowledge exchange with the Protected Landscape Partnership (PLP) in England, including integration and collaboration with National Trails. We will also continue to develop our working relationships, networking and the sharing of good practice, including through further seminar events.”
