With an estimated 19 million visitors each year to our landscapes in Wales, a partnership of the AONBs and National Parks in Wales, Tirweddau Cymru Landscapes Wales is committed to ensuring that everyone feels welcome there.
Landscapes have an important role in enabling people to feel connected and passionate about the natural and cultural environment, as well as the positive effect they have on health and wellbeing. The Tirweddau Cymru Landscapes Wales partnership also has a vital role in reaching reach out beyond traditional audiences so that all sectors of society can experience this in our designated landscapes.
As part of this commitment and celebration of diversity across our communities in Wales, Tirweddau Cymru Landscapes Wales joined the parade at Pride Cymru on Saturday 17 June to send a message of support and celebrate the contributions made by LGBTQ+ people in society. This is particularly timely given the Welsh Government LGBTQ+ Action Plan which was published earlier this year.
Speaking about Tirweddau Cymru Landscapes Wales being part of the Pride parade, Anna Jones, Inclusion, Diversity and Governance Excellence Strategic Lead said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for us as a landscape family to show our support to the LGBTQi+ community in Wales, making sure everyone feels welcome in our landscapes – and indeed show our support to our current and potentially future staff, volunteers and members who are also part of this community. “
The Tirweddau Cymru Landscapes Wales Partnership is working to create opportunities for LGBTQ+ people around Wales to connect and support each other and enable them to feel they all have a stake in their designated landscapes.
