Tirweddau Cymru is delighted to congratulate Tegryn Jones on being honoured with the Blue Robes of the Gorsedd at the National Eisteddfod of Wales.
Tegryn, who recently became Chair of Tirweddau Cymru alongside his role as Chief Executive of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, was recognised for his outstanding contribution to Wales through his leadership in the fields of environment, community and the Welsh language.
Originally from Lampeter and now living in Pembrokeshire, Tegryn has spent his career championing Wales’ landscapes, communities and cultural heritage. His work has helped strengthen national initiatives around climate change, protected landscapes and sustainable development, while consistently promoting the Welsh language and Welsh identity at both local and national levels.
The honour forms part of this year’s Blue Robes announcements, which celebrate individuals who have made a significant contribution to Welsh life, language and culture. Tegryn joins a distinguished group of people from across Wales recognised for their service to communities, public life, education, sport, the arts and volunteering.
As Chair of Tirweddau Cymru, Tegryn brings a deep understanding of the vital relationship between landscape, language and culture in Wales. His leadership reflects the organisation’s commitment to ensuring that Wales’ designated landscapes are not only protected for nature and recreation, but also celebrated as living cultural landscapes shaped by communities, heritage and the Welsh language.
The honour is particularly fitting ahead of the National Eisteddfod’s return to Pembrokeshire this summer – a county where landscape, culture and identity are deeply interconnected, from the Preseli Hills to the coastline of the national park.
