20th EUROPARC Federation International Junior Ranger camp held in Wales!

TCLW were delighted to partner with EUROPARC (About us – EUROPARC Federation) and the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley National Landscape to host the 20th EUROPARC International Junior Ranger camp from 20-27 July 2024. Around 30 youth rangers (aged 14-17) and 10 mentors from across Europe, including, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Italy, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands, came together at Bryntysilio Outdoor Education Centre in Llangollen to explore the theme of ‘Landscapes for the future’: exchange ideas, celebrate diversity, and learn about Protected Landscapes throughout Europe. Activities included a fun international food exchange night, hands-on conservation work, experimental art, white water rafting, and a day trip in neighbouring Eryri National Park, all guided by a focus on conservation, nature connection and the power of youth voice.

New friendships across Europe were made, and the event was wonderful for connecting youth voice and learnings across Wales and Europe, as well as providing a fantastic catalyst for the next steps for our TCLW Youth Network. The TCLW Youth Network is made up of staff from the 8 Designated Landscapes in Wales who are responsible for youth programmes and is a space for connection, to provide support, and share learnings – as each landscape is at a different stage of their youth journey – and explore more ways for landscapes to collaborate on youth programmes, such as youth ranger exchanges.
